Moving to our ‘Dream House’*

In the not too distant future, we will be packing up and moving house. This is not something we had planned or really want to do but our landlord wants to sell and we aren’t in the position to buy. We have spent weeks talking about things we would like and dislike in our new house. Obviously, a house that matches the list in its entirety is pretty unlikely but we have noted a few pros and cons.

PROS:

Medium sized garden: Aidan loves to be outside and in his 2.5 years has gathered quite the selection of garden toys. We would ideally love a garden half the size of the one we have now to fit all his toys and garden furniture.

Playroom: The bliss of being able to shove all the toys behind one door every night is honestly priceless. I am really struggling to find a house with an extra room to be used as a playroom. It is pretty high up on our list of pros!

Modern kitchen: This one is more a bonus than a ‘requirement’. I love all things white, sharp and clean – the more modern the better. Clayton is less fussed but then again who spends more time in there?

Good lighting: As a blogger (and ‘on leave’ vlogger) lighting is a big thing for me. Our current house falls majorly at that hurdle. I think skylight windows would be ideal for this with VELUX blackout blinds so you can get the best of both worlds!

Not too far from the city: I am a massive home bird. I see my parents like every second day – so staying close by would be a huge bonus. At the moment, I am less than 10 minutes walk away so moving further would be a big adjustment.

Utility room: Every mother’s dream! Like the playroom, the utility means I can gather up the laundry and chuck it in there until I get 5 minutes to sort it. Again, this would be a huge bonus.

CONS:

No garden: This is pretty much a  no-no. We could maybe settle for a small garden but none at all is definitely a deal breaker.

On the main road: With two little ones there are enough things to be stressing about without having the addition of being right on the main road when you step outside your door. Like the garden. this one is a pretty big no on our list.

No storage space: In our current house storage is an issue but we have a ‘junk room’. You know that room (or drawer if you’re super organised) in everyone’s house where they hide store things from the Christmas tree to sellotape.

Far from schools: This one is mainly me being procrastinative. Being far from the boy’s schools means that I would actually need to bite the bullet and start driving. So, the closer to the schools the better!

So something like this in Waterford City centre would be great!

Why we chose the GFCF Diet & Our Results

Last week I wrote about the GFCF diet including what it was, why it is supposed to help and foods to avoid. In the future, I will share some of the brands and recipes I have found which are both gluten and dairy free.

Today I want to talk about the signs that made us try the GFCF diet and improvements we have seen since. Like I mentioned in the last post I cannot say that this diet will have the same results for you as we achieved. (more…)

Adorable Kids Halloween Costumes

October is a crazy month for us. It seems we have things planned for the entire month so I am trying to get the boys Halloween costumes sorted early. I haven’t decided what to dress them as yet (although everyone says Finn should be a pumpkin because, yano, the hair.). Here are some of the super adorable kids costumes I found online… (more…)

Pamper Time

Like most parents, I tend to put myself at the bottom of the pile. I usually sort the kids, the dinner, the laundry, the house and then fall into bed. A few weeks ago, I attended the Deise blogger event and was given a very generous goody bag (actually 5 generous goody bags!). As the event was more beauty and skincare than parenting I came home with lots of new products for me – something I am not used to! I decided to give myself some pamper time and try out a few things.

Playroom Pinspiration

I think everyone turns to Pinterest when looking for decor ideas (or new hairstyles/baking/makeup/crafts/everything else). Many lost hours have been spent in the never-ending hole of house goals. I do put a lot of effort into one room though – the boy’s playroom. I tend to lean towards the fun and colourful designs. Here are some of the photos in my Playroom Pinspiration board(more…)
